Overview
The Gosaikunda Circuit Trek (8 Days) is a complete alpine circuit in the Langtang region that combines sacred high-altitude lakes, remote mountain passes, and culturally rich Himalayan villages. The trek reaches the holy Gosaikunda Lake (4,380m) and crosses the Lauribina La Pass (4,610m), making it one of the most spiritually significant and scenically diverse short treks in Nepal.
This route offers a balance of nature, culture, and adventure. The trail passes through Tamang and Sherpa villages, dense rhododendron forests, high alpine terrain, and isolated valleys before descending into the Helambu region. The circuit format avoids retracing steps and provides continuous variation in landscape and perspective.
Best Time to Trek: March–May and September–November. Winter trekking requires strong experience and proper cold-weather equipment due to snow on the pass.
Highlights
- The destination features a cluster of over a dozen alpine glacial lakes. Gosaikunda is highly revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, who believe its waters were created by Lord Shiva's trident.
- Standing on the elevated ridges of Lauribina treats you to one of the best mountain horizons in Nepal, capturing the Annapurna range, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and the Langtang Himal
- A delightful cultural stop where you can visit a functional Buddhist monastery and taste authentic, locally manufactured Himalayan Yak Cheese directly from the source.
- Unlike the standard return trek which goes back the same way, the 8-day circuit crosses the high pass into the Helambu region, giving you two completely different landscapes and cultures in a single trip.
