Tsum Valley – Manaslu Circuit Trek

Tsum valley, unknown and undiscovered to everybody and finally hatched with exploration under initiation from TAAN (Trekking Agent Association of Nepal). It is beautiful yet untouched by any trekkers. This scenic and panoramic landscape is in Gorkha District which holds historic background of whole Nepal’s Shah Dynasty. Mountains, Culture and Tradition, Landscape and adventure is what specify this trekking area. Tsum, derived from Tibetan word Tsombo means vivid. It holds many passes over 5000m stretched upto northern territory of Nepal till border land to Tibet. A beautiful Trails that is just newly opened virgin trail. Crossing through beautiful villages, entering into restricted area with special permit takes you to the heart of cultural and traditional hub, where you will see the real and true image of ancient habitant is untouched by outer world. Chumchet and Chhekampar are one of the most remote village development committees in Gorkha District. This area is just opened by October 2007.

The altitude varies from 1905m till 5093m at Ngula Dhojhyang Pass on the Tibetan border. Tsum itself is derived from Tibetan word, ‘Tsombo’, which literally mean vivid. Traditionally Tsum Valley was culturally district geographical area called ‘Tsum Tso Chucksums’, which means thirteen provinces ruled as a single territory. This hidden valley is surrounded by Mountains called, Boudha Himal, Himal Chuli, Ganesh Himal and Sringi Himal. Tsum valley includes two remote VDCs, Chhekampar (Upper Tsum) and Chumchet (Lower Tsum). Its so remote that the ancient relics are still seen. The people of this area still practice polyandry system and they have unique culture, tradition and their own dialect. Many Tsumbas (Resident of Tsum Valley) report that they have seen or found the signs of Mehti, commonly referred as the ‘Yeti’ or ‘Abominable Snowman’.
