The Ghorepani Trek, also known as the Poon Hill Trek, is one of the most popular short treks in the Annapurna region. This 4-day journey offers a perfect introduction to Himalayan trekking, combining stunning sunrise views from Poon Hill with cultural encounters in traditional Gurung and Magar villages. The trail winds through dense rhododendron forests, terraced farmlands, and offers close-up views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Dhaulagiri.

This trek is rated easy to moderate, with daily walking of 4–6 hours on well-maintained trails. It is suitable for beginners, families, and those with limited time.

Best Time to Trek:

  • Spring (March–May): Rhododendron forests in full bloom, mild temperatures, clear mountain views.

  • Autumn (September–November): Crisp, clear skies, stable weather, and spectacular visibility. Peak season.

  • Winter (December–February): Cold temperatures, especially at night; trails are quieter with occasional snowfall at higher elevations.

  • Monsoon (June–August): Not recommended due to slippery trails, leeches, and limited mountain views.
