The Tengboche Trek is an excellent introduction to the Everest region, offering stunning Himalayan scenery and rich Sherpa culture without the demanding altitude of longer treks like Everest Base Camp.

The journey begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by trekking through lush forests, Sherpa villages, and across suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Along the way, you’ll pass through Namche Bazaar, the bustling trading hub of the Khumbu region, before continuing to the spiritual heart of the trek — Tengboche Monastery (3,870 m). Here, you’ll witness panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku while experiencing the peaceful chants of Buddhist monks.

This 7-day trek combines adventure, culture, and nature, making it ideal for first-time trekkers, families, and those short on time who still want a memorable taste of the Everest region.

Best Time to Trek

  • Spring (March–May): Mild temperatures, clear skies, and rhododendron blooms along the trails.

  • Autumn (Late September–November): Stable weather, excellent visibility, and lively local festivals.

  • Winter (December–February): Fewer trekkers, but colder temperatures and occasional snow.

  • Monsoon (June–August): Lush greenery but muddy trails and limited visibility; less recommended.

Day 1
Arrive in Kathmandu

You’ll be greeted at Tribhuvan International Airport by a Cheerful Holiday representative and transferred to your hotel. Evening briefing over a traditional Nepali dinner

Day 2
Fly to Lukla (2,804 m) → Trek to Phakding (2,610 m) | 3–4 hrs

Early morning mountain flight to Lukla with breathtaking views of the Himalayas. After meeting your porters and guide, begin trekking along the Dudh Koshi River valley to Phakding, passing through small Sherpa villages and suspension bridges.

Day 3
Trek Phakding → Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) | 5–6 hrs

The trail gradually ascends through pine forests and crosses the Hillary Suspension Bridge. Enter Sagarmatha National Park, where you’ll see stunning mountain vistas, before a steep climb to Namche Bazaar, the main Sherpa hub.

Day 4
Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar | Optional hike to Everest View Hotel

Spend the day acclimatizing to the altitude. Take a short hike to Everest View Hotel (3,880 m) for spectacular panoramas of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse. Afternoon free to explore Namche’s markets, museums, and cafés.

Day 5
Trek Namche → Tengboche (3,870 m) | 5 hrs

Walk through rhododendron forests and mountain ridges to reach Tengboche Monastery, the spiritual center of the Khumbu region. Evening visit to the monastery for prayer ceremonies while enjoying views of Everest and surrounding peaks.

Day 6
Trek Tengboche → Lukla | 6–7 hrs

Descend via Namche and Phakding to Lukla. Celebrate the completion of your trek with your team in the evening.
